Tennessee Tech’s student-athletes will be moving into the new Athletic Performance Center, which is scheduled to host a grand opening in late March on the western edge of campus. Chip Pugh, director of the Athletic Performance Center, coordinated the installation of weights and machines in the strength center side of the facility in early December.

The state-of-the-art facility, a realization of the vision of the Tennessee Tech Athletics Department, is designed to aid in the development of Tech’s student-athletes by giving them the opportunity to be trained more effectively and efficiently. It will also give TTU's Athletic programs an edge in recruiting the finest student-athletes.

The 25,000-square-foot facility includes 10,000 sq. ft. for strength training; 10,000 sq. ft. for indoor practice; and 5,000 for locker rooms, including a first class locker room for the Golden Eagle softball team, offices for athletic performance staff and storage space.

The new TTU Athletic Performance Center scheduled to open soon.

The strength training area is equipped with 22 all-purpose Legend Fitness racks and top-of-the-line strength equipment. The audio/visual system includes state-of-the-art audio equipment and 14 55-inch flat screen televisions to inform student-athletes of their custom workout.

The facility's indoor practice space is equipped with the same style of synthetic turf used on the football field in Tucker Stadium. All athletic teams have the opportunity to use this space during inclement weather. The space also has cages that the softball, baseball and golf teams can use to practice hitting.

The Athletic Performance Center was constructed entirely with private funds, but additional funds are still needed. If you would like to make a gift in support of the Tennessee Tech Athletic Performance Center, you can give online or call 931-372-3929 or 1-800-889-8730. Your support for this project is greatly needed and appreciated.

You are also invited to the grand opening March 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 4:15. Please park at the Hooper Eblen Center and meet in the lobby for transportation to the facility.
